Welcome to my version of the Runaway Teen Challenge! While playing the other challenge versions I always found myself taking the same alternate choices and routes, so I figured I’d just make my whole new alt. It’s a good balance of the same and the new, so please give it a read if you’re interested in a new version!
The general goal of the challenge is to make a happy home and family and eventually re-face your old home town that you ran away from all those years ago.
The challenge is split into different “parts” to make things easier to follow!

General rules
Play on normal lifespan
No using cheats or CC furniture that provides better stats for cheaper
If you’re doing a LP or Blog using this challenge please link back in at least the first part
Try to keep as close to the rules as you can
No using potions or objects that extend your sims lifespan
Part One – Getting Started
First off we need to create our family. You’ll be wanting to make the family you’re running away from first, to help the genealogy. You can have up to 6 family members who aren’t part of the runaway part of the challenge. Give them whatever traits and aspirations you want. If you don’t want to make a family you can skip this, but know your “home town” will still be blocked.
Next, make your “main” sim, this sim should be a teen. Make them look however you want but keep in mind their clothes should be layered, grungy, or ill-fitting. Your sim ran away with only the clothes on their back and a small bag of other clothes (or just the same outfit if you set everything to the same one). You can give them any aspiration but you can only give them traits that AREN’T on the banned list.
After that make your “secondary” sim, your main sims sibling. They should be a child and just as runaway-vibe looking as their elder sibling. They also adhere to the same trait/aspiration rules.
And finally make the soon-to-be-dead family member. They have to be at least a young adult, they’re simply to allow your household to split when your main and secondary sims run away. They WILL die.

Banned Traits (Until Young Adult/next gen):
Loner
Kleptomaniac
Glutton
Loves Outdoors
Cheerful
Keep in mind there should be a reason your sims are running away. Maybe everyone in their family is snobbish while yours are more free spirits, maybe everyone’s evil and mean while your sims are good, a family of loners with two outgoing black sheeps. This isn’t needed, of course, but it adds to the story!
For example, Here are my sims!
Clair Holcomb – Teen – Lazy, Slob – Big Happy Family
Khloe Holcomb – Child – Good – Social Butterfly
And here are their family:
Shari Holcomb – Adult – Mean, Jealous, Neat – Leader Of The Pack
Neil Holcomb – Teen – Snob, Lazy
Ramon Holcomb – Adult – Neat, Hotheaded, Loner

Part Two – Setting the Scene
Move your family into any house you want. Use money cheats if you want to get a fancy house for the family ASIDE FROM San Myshuno . Keep in mind you WONT be living there, only the family you left behind. Once your family is moved in give the ones who aren’t your main/secondary jobs, furniture, etc. Make their life stable and then immediately move your main, secondary, and chosen to die sim out. You can use any method, just make sure you place them on an empty lot in any neighborhood BUT the one your family is in and San Myshuno .
Make sure not to unpause the game at any time during Part Two to prevent an unfair advantage.
When you’re on your new runaway lot use the money cheat to set your money to 0 (money 0) and kill your throw-away family member (sims.add_buff buff_Death_ElderExhaustion_Warning). You should be left with just your teen, child, and no money.

You can develop any skills you want during this time as long as it adheres to the rules and you can buy and place allowed furniture on your lot as you please. Your main sim should look out for their sibling and buy them toys and games to keep them entertained and away from passing adults while the teen is the lot.
A good thing to start on is to go collecting and fishing for the first day or two and then begin your garden after that. Once you have some spare money you should buy at least a firepit and some entertainment objects.
Maybe your teen is sentimental and wants to start collecting and keeping things, or opt to keep one of their first caught frogs or fish in a bowl or mounted. It’s all up to you how your sims build their new life and what mementos they take along their way.
This part will last until your sims is a young adult and has enough money to build a house.
Memories from home:
You are allowed ONE items that adheres to the rules PER sim to “take” from their home for free (use money cheat to re-add the money). It must be under $200 and 4 squares or smaller. For example: my child brought a stuffed animal and my teen brought her bookbag.

Part Four – Things are Looking up
Your teen sim is now a young adult and has enough money to get on their feet and your child sim is now a teen. In this part you’ll begin to build your house and home life together.
To fully enter this part you have to first build a house. You’ll need to follow some requirements and bans while building it. If your sim doesn’t have enough money to finish it remove all doors so your sims can’t actually enter or use anything inside the house until they have enough money to complete it.
Requirements:
Main sim bedroom - Must have double bed and dresser
Secondary sim bedroom – Must have single or double bed and a night stand
Bathroom – Must have toilet, sink, toilet paper decoration, laundry/laundry basket decoration and bath/shower

Now, obviously some rules have been lifted! Your sim is now able to support themselves so here’s the new rules:

You CAN paint as much as you like and use your camera as much as you like
You CAN buy all kinds of comfort furniture from buy mode now

You CAN use your phone now as long as your bills are payed
You CAN make food without any extra costs
You CAN go to other community lots but no homes

You SHOULDN’T change/plan your sims outfit more than the allotted amount (below) unless you’re willing to pay the $100 extra fee for the clothes. You can change hair/makeup though.
You CANT Use any gameplay mods or cheats aside from what is directed here.
You must NEVER enter your hometown without your disguise on and NO MORE than once a week.
San Myshuno rules-
You can go to any festival without your disguise now
You can freely look for posters and snowglobes

You can participate in any of the festival activities
You should leave no later than 1-2 sim hours after the festival ends
You can’t enter the appartments
You can buy swag and any objects as long as you have the money
Now that your sim has a house of their own and is a young adult you should pick a career for them. Pick wisely, because you can only progress to the next part when you reach the middle levels. Your secondary sim should also be a teen now, you may get them a part time job or even let them go to school if you wish, or you can simply have them stay home.
During this part your sims should work on expanding their house, making friends, progressing in their jobs/skills, and planning for the future. A lot of the restraints have been lifted so your sims have a lot more freedom than before, so enjoy it and have fun now that they’ve grown.
Did your sims furnish their house lavishly or did they pick the bare basics? Maybe they brought their first catches or collections or their memory items from home into their new house? It’s up to you how sentimental your sims get, and it’s up to you how much money they’ll blow on furnishing beyond the requirements. As long as they have the money expand to your fill!
Your sims may start dating in this area, maybe they’ll get a SO or two. You can’t have them move in yet, but you can flirt all you want. Build relationships with your friends and SOs in preparation for the next part. You should keep your friend group relatively small and close knit.
Part Five – Things are Normal Again
Congratulations! You’ve made it all the way to adulthood with your main sim! Your secondary should be a young adult now as well. Now that you’re settled and old enough your sim can look at moving into new lots/houses or expanding their current one. But, there’s some requirements before you can fully reach this part.
Sim Requirements:
Must be at least level 5 in their job
Main sim must be adult now
Must have at least 3 friends and 1 romantic interest for your main sim
House must meet house requirements
Must have at least 1 skill to level 8+
House Requirements:
Must have 3 bedrooms that have at least 1 bed, 1 night stand, and 1 dresser
Must have 1 bathroom with sink, toilet, and tub/shower
Must have 1 kitchen and dining area with 1 table, 4 chairs, 2 usable/empty counters, 1 stove, 1 smoke detector, 1 sprinkler system, 1 fridge, and 1 sink
Must have an entry/family room with 1 couch, 2 chairs, 1 tv, 1 end table, 1 rug, and 1 potted plant/painting
Must have 1 room for studying working with at least 3 skill building objects and 1 object you can sit on
All rooms must have at least 1 light source, 1 window, flooring, and proper walls.
You play by the over-all game rules now!
If you want lot traits you must have ONE less-than-good oneIf your sim opts to buy an already made house you must make sure it adheres to the above requirements as well.
During this step your sim must have their chosen lover(s) move in and begin to plan to start a family. You may move other sims in as room-mates and adopt a child if you do not want your sim to have biological children.
Your secondary sim is ready to start their job, but it’s up to them if they keep it in the next part. Your sims should focus on building a family together and enjoying their new, normal life. Their friend group may grow and they can now go visit their friends and chat everyone up.
Now that both your sims are old enough to be on their own you may think about settling back down in your home town, maybe you’ll even confront or reconnect with your parents. It’s up to you, though, to pave your own story.

This part ends when the baby you had/adopted turns into a child. It’s your choice if you want to keep playing to the next part or if you want to play as it goes!
Part 6 – On the Road (optional)
This part leaves your main sibling behind and takes full control of the secondary making them the new main sim. They’re an adult now, and after living with their sibling all their life they’re ready to move on to a new life.
Your sim may say goodbye to their sibling and nieces/nephews, maybe they’ll just slip out in the night with no word, but their goal is to start a life on their own.
You have two choices on where your sim moves: Your hometown, or San Myshuno! Your sim doesn’t HAVE to keep a job if they can coast on their saved funds. Their goal is to start a family of their own of at least 2 kids spanned 1 life cycle apart (in effect, a teen and a child). Maybe their kids don’t believe in their beliefs, maybe they’re unruly and itching to explore, maybe their kids will one day choose to run away.
This part and challenge comes to a close when your main sim of this part (secondary sim of the other challenges) becomes an elder.
How did your sims lives play out? Did they enjoy their golden years? Did they ever reconnect with their parents? Maybe they made it too late and were met with an empty house?
End
